One of our absolute favorite trends that popped up in the last few years is the walk-in shower with adjacent tub (and the variation with the tub completely inside the shower enclosure, often called a wet room). This ultimate spa-like configuration has so many benefits. One perk is for those who like to shower before bathing—you don't have to drip water across the room to get into the tub! Having a combined area for the bathtub and shower also allows for more space, as it removes the need for separate enclosure areas thus adding to your square footage. But of course, our personal favorite thing about this new concept is the ability to be bold with the tile work! We are pretty keen on floor-to-ceiling tile and all the variations people are coming up with to accentuate the shared shower-tub space. We've done contrasting grout, monochromatic tile & grout, contrasting color-blocked sections of tiles, mixing textures (like stone and glass tile), and more! The shower room shown features monochromatic ceramic tiles in dark slate but adds interest with small hexagon pieces for the floor and larger rectangle pieces for the wall.
